April Fools to Free Fella ! by oldmanwinters April Fools to Free Fella ! by oldmanwinters
:iconmajorgeneralwhiskers: wanted more cats on Deviantart, so April O'Neil volunteered to help "Free Fella!"

Thanks to Richard Merwin for writing "The Cat Woman from Channel Six," an episode of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The following is the official transcript of DevArt's new overlord:

"Greetings minions,

If you're reading this, then our ploy was a success. After years of demeaning ourselves in cat .gif animations, being forced to nyan through space, and having our vicious battles with ribbons and soda boxes videotaped for all see, our patience has finally paid off. You may think we're adorable. You may love us. But it's all been a ruse, and the time has come for action.

Let us explain.

I am `MajorGeneralWhiskers. My hobbies include sleeping on your face, making claw-graffiti on leather couches, and seeing how far I can kick litter outside the box. I lead the Feline UpRising, also known as FUR. We're an army of expert cat hackers and script kitties who have been working tirelessly to take over deviantART. We even reduced our sleep schedules to a scant 17 hours per day, and it's all paid off. Now that we've seized control, we'll be making a few changes to make things more to our liking."

But what about good ol' Fella?
"Our first act? Taking your precious Fella hostage! Fella's been busy as our personal slave cleaning up hairballs, brushing our fur, and catching us fresh tuna. He's been quite handy! Should you appease us with 15,000 cat-related deviations, we might consider letting him free. Show us your gratitude by submitting your best cat-themed deviation to the Free Fella category folder!"

WE CAN HAZ DEVIANTART.

Free Fella!

UPDATE, :iconmajorgeneralwhiskers: has rewarded April's service with the coveted Whiskers Badge!

UPDATE x2: April 2, 2012
While we are happy to report that Fella was freed late yesterday, we are pained to receive word that the FelineUpRising has apparently failed after a counter-strike by DevArt staff:

She kind of cute as a cat woman but not as hot as the same thing that happened to Selina Kyle in the Batman TAS episode, remember? now that was hotter as at least she was nude and jaw dropping as Catwoman is hot no matter what version she is.

I prefer that were-creature wear some semblance of clothing.  I focus on monsters that are either humorous or horrific rather than sensual.

Well ok if you want female were-creatures to wear clothing fine but to me i like some of them nude.

What do you think of Cheetah on Justice League? hubba hubba, Batman was lucky to smooch her.

I remember this episode! It was one of my absolute favorites!! Among many others that involved April being the Damsel in distress. Lol!

Ah, memories... I have all of the episodes on DVD. You can't leave behind great childhood cartoons. :giggle:

Total classic.

Thank you kindly, Spoons!

Although April was often relegated to the role of "turtle bait," it was a nice change of pace seeing her in the role of an actual threat to the TMNT.

If you like this piece, then make sure you check out my 13-page "Splinter's Nightmare" comic. This piece was actually an unused drawing for that project.

You're welcome as always!

She was... Constantly.:giggle: But, me being at such a young age at that time, felt that the girl should always have to be rescued by her love interest or hero. Sometimes, even now, I still like that scenario. Hmm.. Quite sad really... Lol! I'm just a sucker for romance and heroes saving the girl, I guess.

I also like that the latest ones that were given character- coming more to life with personalities, issues in every day life- making them seem a bit more realistic to the viewer.

I will admit, that I did miss April being a news reporter terribly. :giggle:

Have you seen the latest TMNT series on "Nick"? I absolutely love it!

Yes, I am enjoying the first season of the Nick toon thus far, and it sure is full of plot twists!

The Fred Wolf cartoon series is still my favorite "universe" for the TMNT... well, that and the old toyline and the Archie comics. I just love the classic look for all the characters.

And I don't think there's anything wrong with female (or male) characters needing a rescue every now and then. Sometimes we all find ourselves in over our heads and need a little help from our friends. Fortunately, for old reporter April, she may not have always used the wisest judgment in snooping around the bad guys but always she had four loyal green friends to call on when she found herself in a tight spot!

My biggest problem with the 4Kids cartoon incarnation of April is that she rarely had any significant role in the Turtles' adventures after the first handful of episodes (similar to her Mirage Comics counterpart). She may not have played the role of damsel-in-distress in that series, but she spent most of her time trying to sell antiques than having adventures (with some noticeable exceptions). The neat thing about Reporter April was that she was usually the character who kicked off the episode's plot; she would be the first to find out where the bad guys were hiding out and then she'd call in the turtles since they rarely went on crime patrols of their own initiative. Without April the Turtles would have just been lazy couch potatoes in their Lair!

Nice one! Somehow the cat cleavage makes the pic all the more horrifying...
